Keeping fit is hard enough on its own – you have to make it a point to visit a gym or health club, watch what you eat, stay away from unhealthy habits, and so on. But the situation is exacerbated when you have to spend an inordinate amount of time in the office, just sitting at your desk for hours and hours. How will you be able to keep fit then? If you’re worried about staying fit whilst at work, here’s everything you should know about keeping fit in the office: top exercises to do at work.
Shadow boxing
If you’re frustrated in the office, this workout routine can make you feel better as well. To get rid of your frustration, simply stand up and throw several uppercuts, hooks, and jabs in quick succession. Do this for about one minute or until you’re spent. This exercise is also great for toning your chest, arms, and your core.
The wall pushup
Who says you can’t do pushups whilst you’re at the office? You can do a modified version of a traditional pushup at work. Here’s how: simply stand about one foot away from a wall – make sure the wall is sturdy and not flimsy, though – and push yourself forward until your palms rest on the wall. Your arms should remain straight as well as parallel to the floor. The next step is to slowly lower your body towards the wall by bending at the elbows. Then, simply hold it there for around two to three seconds and then push yourself back to your original position. Repeat the procedure about 12 to 15 times.
Swivel it!
If you’re one of the lucky ones and have a swivel chair in the office, use it to your advantage. Whilst sitting on your chair, hold your feet above the floor and hold your desk’s edge with your thumb and fingers. Then, use your body and torso to swivel or move the chair from one side to the other. Do this about 15 to 20 times.
Squeeze those abs
This is one desk exercise which is sure not to bother anyone as it isn’t even noticeable at all. You can also do this either whilst walking from one office to another or whilst sitting down at your desk. Just take one deep breath and try to tighten those muscles in your abdomen for about a minute until you exhale. Repeat the process 12 to 15 times.
Keeping fit in the office need not be an impossible or difficult endeavour. Anyone can do it with the right techniques and tips. And, once you’re done with your desk and office exercises, you can reward yourself with a few games of online bingo, a chat with your favourite colleagues or a snack or two, why not?
