I’ve never liked needles. I was one of those kids who just refused to get shots. Once the doctors gave me a bunch of candy, pretty much all the toys they had in their little drawer, and I closed my eyes and counted to fifty, then I would finally acquiesce to being given the medicine I needed. I don’t even like to sew. Everything about needles: no.

So I absolutely wanted nothing to do with microneedling. At all. I know it’s kind of a cliché to refer to some kind of beauty treatment as “kind of like torture,” but oh man, does this one sound like torture. I mean, come on: someone punctures you so many times with little needles, over and over again. If I saw that on Netflix, I’d immediately stop watching the show (unless it was very good, but I’d be nervous for a while).

But, I also have acne (grrr). All the different things I’d tried to get rid of acne were coming up short. I got real tired of trying one face cream after another only to look into the mirror and see little to no progress. It was exhausting having the same conversation with myself each day: “OK, so… that looks like it’s a little bit less than yesterday… all right, uh, sure, this is definitely less bad than the other day, you bet…” Only it was all lies. My acne wasn’t getting any better. If anything, some days it felt like it was getting worse somehow, as if I was going backward in time (but in a bad way). Something had to be done. I searched for microneedling near me and hoped for the best.

Face the Needles of Microneedling Near Me

I don’t mean to be a drama queen, but it does come naturally.  Friends had super reactions to microneedling. Like, they got such good service at DivanteMedSpa I kind of didn’t trust it, you know? I don’t mean to be cynical, but I’m one of those people that if someone says: “this is amazingly awesome,” I initially think: “ah, I don’t trust that.” But, I’d had enough friends have such positive experiences at the DivanteMedSpa I knew that there had to be something to it. So, I decided to give it a shot.

After searching online for all different kinds of ways to not be afraid of needles, I went in. I told myself: “I’m just going to be calm through this; it’s going to be OK.”

I Needn’t Have Worried.

Everyone at DivanteMedSpa was so nice! I was all ready to be nervous and scared, worriedand anxious – but since everyone was so kind, there really was no opportunity to be nervous and scared. Besides that, they were all so professional, too. Everyone at Divante really knows what they’re doing, so I instantly felt like I could trust them to do this. When I got there, they walked me through what the procedure would be, and I felt… peaceful. I was prepared to give myself all kinds of mantras, maybe a prayer or something, but after talking to the pros at Divante, I just… relaxed.

Full Face or not Full Face

After careful consideration, I decided to go with the “Full Face” treatment. That one made the most sense, because that’s where my acne is. I have some acne that wouldn’t be covered by the “Partial Face” treatment, and I realized that this was on my one opportunity to get rid of it for good. So, I had no problem spending a few bucks to make sure that microneedling took care of my acne and left adolescence behind me forever.

I also debated going for one session or for three sessions. In the end, I went with the three sessions. The reason was simple: the session was great! I felt fine at the end. I had expected to be hurt, scared, vulnerable and confused, but this was nothing like that. Instead, it made me feel calm, relaxed, and oh yeah: it got rid of my acne! I almost cheered when I looked in the mirror.

I can’t tell you what it was like to, after having fought with that acne for so long, finally see it on its way out. I didn’t have to rationalize the progress; rather, I just had to wait for the other sessions.

You Need This Needling Too

If you’re like me, and you’d never consider acupuncture or anything like that, this treatment is totally worth it. It takes care of all of the acne and you won’t hurt afterward. I’m still not sure I’d give acupuncture a shot, but I can’t wait for my next session at DivanteMedSpa. You can schedule with them by calling (818) 334-4737.
