Home Remedies to Treat Chapped Lips

Your lips get dry and chapped if you frequently wet your lips. Chapped lips is a common problem for people who smoke as well and this condition might also occur due to dehydration, common sickness, undergoing medical treatments, climatic changes, drinking hot or cold liquids. Chapped lips are observed especially during winter and summer. This condition is also observed among few people when they eat ice creams, pickles etc and this is due to heat in their body.

However, you can treat chapped lips by following few home remedies which are proven to be effective and also help provide natural moisture to your lips.

Turmeric and cheese:

Turmeric is known since ancient times to cure several skin problems and it has several medicinal components which can help cure any such skin disorders. Take 1/4th spoon of cheese (ensure that there is no salt content in the cheese you use) and add a pinch of turmeric to it. Apply this concoction to your chapped and dry lips. This is an effective remedy which can help treat chapped lips. Follow this remedy twice a day to see visible results.

Lip balms:

You need to provide moisture to your lips since they can’t secrete any natural oils. Use lip balms for chapped lips. Use a branded lip balm and apply it frequently whenever your lips turn dry. Lip balms are made up of certain natural ingredients which are effective in treating chapped lips.

Honey and cucumber:

Extract the juice of a fresh cucumber and add few drops of honey to it. Apply this mixture on your dry lips. Use a cotton ball to apply this solution on your lips. Repeat the same procedure several times for few minutes. This is one such effective method which can help treat chapped lips. You can also add few drops of lemon juice to this mixture and apply it over your dry and chapped lips. Honey can help retain moisture content of your lips as well.

Butter is a smooth substance which works as a magic in treating chapped lips. Take one teaspoon of butter (not the salted one). Clean your lips using cotton and exfoliate the dead skin on your lips. It can help heal your lips and retains the moisture and smoothness of your lips.

Coconut oil:

Coconut oil can help treat chapped lips effectively. Dip a cotton ball in coconut oil and gently apply it over your dry lips. You can massage it gently with your forefingers and leave it for few minutes. This is one such effective remedy which can help treat dry and chapped lips and also adds shine and moisture to your lips.
